Dr. David Lee Batts (born DD MMM YYYY) is an Alumnus of Tau Chapter (Τ 1242) at East Carolina University and the founder of the Delta Epsilon Chapter at Duke University.

Early Fraternity Life and Career
In addition to Phi Sigma Pi, Dave was extremely involved on campus from serving as Vice President and Selection Committee Chair of Omicron Delta Kappa, serving as a Resident Advisor and Student Marshall for two years, serving as an Orientation Assistant, and playing on the Varsity Football Team. Dave held additional memberships in Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society, Golden Key National Honor Society, Phi Eta Sigma National Freshman Honor Society, Epsilon Pi Tau National Honor Society for Industrial Technology, the National Association of Industrial Technology, and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.

Currently, Dave teaches in the Department of Technology Systems at East Carolina University where he received tenure in 2011. Dave has served as the Faculty Advisor since 1998 and has won Outstanding Advisor Awards from ECU (2006), the Professional Fraternity Association (2007), and Phi Sigma Pi (2008). In 2001, Dave was awarded the Outstanding Alumnus Award from Tau Chapter for all of his support as an Alumnus. For his outstanding service to the National Fraternity, Dave was awarded a Distinguished Service Key in 2000.

National Council
During Dave's term as Vice President of Alumni Development he helped approve and create the Alumni Convention. He oversaw a pilot event that went to Reno, Nevada. Alumni Convention officially started after his term but his work on the idea was crucial to its implementation.
