- The Handbook of Phi Sigma Pi is revised, enlarged and replaced with the Scholar's Province.
- Letti Large Becker is hired as Phi Sigma Pi's first full-time employee. She is named Executive Director.
- The Regional Director System is scrapped for a second time. This time it was because the newly hired Executive Director became accountable for these responsibilities.
- Steven DiGuiseppe, a National Officer from 1984 to 1990 and a key figure in the revitalization of the fraternity, leaves office.

- March 11 - Alpha Theta is founded at Rutgers University
- March 25 - Alpha Iota is founded at Montclair State University

- October 28 - Mu is reactivated at the Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania
