Flanagan was a professor at East Carolina Teachers College, now known as East Carolina University, when he convinced a local fraternity Tau Sigma Sigma to seek affiliation with Phi Sigma Pi.  They became [[Tau Chapter]].

Dr. Flanagan attended Berea College where he obtained his B.Ped degree. Following, he went to George Peabody, now Vanderbilt University, to receive his B.S. (1924), his M.S. (1924), and finally a PhD (1934).  Post doctoral work was completed at the University of Texas.  Flanagan taught at East Carolina Teachers College, now known as East Carolina University, from 1925 until his death in 1950.  In 1935, a group of students approached Dr. Flanagan about forming a social/service fraternity at ECTC, which would become [[Tau Sigma Sigma]].  The following year, he was able to convince the group to seek affiliation with Phi Sigma Pi.  They became [[Tau Chapter]].

Beecher Flanagan (born DD MMM YYYY) is an Alumnus of Epsilon Chapter (Ε 2) at Vanderbilt University and Founder of Tau Chapter (Τ 12) at East Carolina University.

Fraternity Life and Career

Dr. Flanagan attended Berea College where he obtained his B.Ped degree. Following, he went to George Peabody, now Vanderbilt University, to receive his B.S. (1924), his M.S. (1924), and finally a PhD (1934). Post doctoral work was completed at the University of Texas. Flanagan taught at East Carolina Teachers College, now known as East Carolina University, from 1925 until his death in 1950.
