Christopher A. Crout (born 28 Feb 1989) is an Alumnus of Tau Chapter (Τ 1685) at East Carolina University. In the Spring of 2011, Chris graduated from ECU with a Bachelor's degree as triple major in Biochemistry, Chemistry, and Multi-Disciplinary Studies with a Concentration in Religious Studies. Chris currently serves as a Region Consultant for Phi Sigma Pi and is based out of Pittsburgh, PA.

Early Fraternity Life and Career

Chris decided to attend East Carolina University due to its relatively low tuition cost, close proximity to home, and for its great Chemistry program. Initially, Chris was intending on majoring in Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Biology. After having conversations with a medical professor at Duke University, Chris decided to drop Biology and replace it with Religious Studies. During the spring of Chris' freshman year, he applied to become a Resident Advisor, a position he held during his sophomore and junior years. Due to the fact that Chris was a new hire with the Campus Living Staff at ECU, Chris was unable to join any organizations or hold any other job. It was because of this that Chris missed the invitation to join Tau Chapter in the Fall of 2008. Once Chris was eligible to join organizations in the Spring of 2009, he paid attention to the email to become a part of Tau Chapter. Upon attending the first informational meeting that semester, Chris was able to see the outstanding fellowship, great passion, and rich history of Tau Chapter. It was right then and there that Chris decided to join Phi Sigma Pi. That semester, Chris was pinned in the Beta Chi Initiate Class. Months later, Chris was inducted as a Tau Brother.

Other Interesting Facts

Chris is currently on the fence deciding what to do after serving as a Region Consultant. The choices are between joining the US Navy and going to med school to become a forensic pathologist or attending grad school to pursue a PhD while working as a research technician. The PhD would most likely be in Religious Studies despite Chris' science background. Chris also has two published scientific research papers:

Chris aspires to one day serve as the National President of Phi Sigma Pi.
