At Mount Olive High School in Flanders, NJ, Kayla was the Editor-in-Chief of her school newspaper and was very involved in community service. After graduating, Kayla decided to attend Virginia Commonwealth University to study Mass Communication, though she later changed her major to English. Kayla found Phi Sigma Pi in the Spring of 2008 as a second semester Freshman, and liked its unique balance of service and social aspects. She brought her best friend Alisha Kellam to rush with her, and they became members of the Upsilon class that spring.
