Chapter Redirect project

Scope

• This project is intended to create redirect pages for various commonly searched names for chapters to help make the wiki more user friendly and make the site easier to navigate.

Guidelines

We need to set up redirect pages for each chapter from any names that people may use to commonly search for the chapter. For example, the Beta Kappa Chapter page is located at Beta Kappa Chapter. A brother searching for this page might use the search box and type in names such as Beta Kappa, Clemson or Clemson University. Without redirects, a brother will receive a page not found message and need to search again. By adding redirects, this search will take the brother directly to the Beta Kappa Chapter page.

Redirects should be added for the chapter name without the word chapter (e.g. Beta Delta vs Beta Delta Chapter) as well as any commonly accepted name variations for the school (e.g. NC State NC State University, North Carolina State, North Carolina State University)

How To

• Enter a common name into the search box
• You will be navigated to a page that says: "There is no page titled "xxxx". You can create this page."
• Click the "create this page" link.
• Add the redirect text, which is the following format, where name is the full chapter name (e.g. Beta Kappa Chapter): #REDIRECT [[name]]

Specific example (already completed):

• Type Beta Kappa in search box
• "There is no page titled "Beta Kappa". You can create this page."
• Click the "create this page" link.
• Type the following on the page: #REDIRECT [[Beta Kappa Chapter]] and save

• Type Clemson University in search box
• "There is no page titled "Clemson University". You can create this page."
• Click the "create this page" link.
• Type the following on the page: #REDIRECT [[Beta Kappa Chapter]] and save

• Type Clemson in search box
• "There is no page titled "Clemson ". You can create this page."
• Click the "create this page" link.
• Type the following on the page: #REDIRECT [[Beta Kappa Chapter]] and save
