Chapter History
Founding
Gamma Beta Chapter was chartered on October 29th, 1995 at Morehead State University. The original class contained 33 members. Since then the chapter has grown and at present contains 29 active members. The Alpha Theta Class currently has 7 initiate members which will bring the chapter up to 36 active brothers. This semester the chapter had a big week long push for our Philanthropy Teach for America.
Early Years
Gamma Beta started very strong in its early years. The chapter at one time was above 60 members. After a period of low recruitment and graduations, the chapter at one time dwindled down to a membership in the low 20's. Under the leadership of chapter President Amanda Earnest and Jesse Howard, Gamma Beta quickly returned to being a successful chapter. The recruitment of Chi and Psi classes brought in 25 new brothers and has speared the chapter into the current recruitment powerhouse.
The Active Chapter
The chapter mascot is Eldo the Elephant and the chapter symbol is the Key. The chapter's chant is:"Listen up so you can hear, Morehead, Gamma Beta's cheer. Other chapters can't deny, We're the best of Phi Sigma Pi. PSP as good as gold, And Morehead shows it three times fold. We're all brothers, tight as glue, We're Gamma Beta, M!S!U"
