Alpha Eta selects one Initiate class each semester after holding four Information Sessions and four Recruitment nights. The sizes of Alpha Eta's Initiate classes vary from semester to semester. The smallest Initiate classes, Epsilon and Alpha Pi, each had six (6) members, while the largest class, Beta, had twenty-eight (28).

Hope Bowl

The Hope Bowl is an enduring testament to Alpha Eta's commitment to philanthropy and community engagement. This annual coed flag football tournament, initiated in 1996, was established with a noble purpose: to positively impact the lives of those in need.

AIDS Delaware: The inaugural Hope Bowl, held in 1996, was dedicated to supporting AIDS Delaware, an organization founded in 1984. This organization is the state's most prominent and long-standing AIDS service provider. AIDS Delaware dedicates itself to promoting the well-being of the human family by offering social and support services to clients and their families, along with implementing education and prevention initiatives to combat the spread of HIV and other STIs. Furthermore, AIDS Delaware passionately advocates for compassionate public policies that further its mission.

Teach for America: In 2010, Alpha Eta redirected the funds raised by the Hope Bowl to our national philanthropy, Teach for America (TFA). This commitment to TFA's cause proved exemplary, earning Alpha Eta recognition from our National Organization. In 2011, the Chapter was honored for raising the most funds for TFA in a single philanthropic event. In 2012, Alpha Eta's support placed it on the National's "TFA Honor Roll."

B+ Foundation and UDance: The year 2013 marked another pivotal shift in the mission of the Hope Bowl. It transitioned to support the B+ Foundation through donations to UDance, a remarkable 12-hour dance marathon hosted on the University of Delaware's campus. The B+ Foundation is dedicated to providing financial and emotional support to families of children battling cancer while championing critical childhood cancer research initiatives. Trivia Night

Every spring semester, the Alpha Eta Chapter presents a campus-wide spectacle called Trivia Night. This enthralling trivia tournament is designed to captivate the entire campus community while championing our National Philanthropy, the Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership Program (HOBY).

The Trivia Challenge: Trivia Night is a vibrant fusion of knowledge and camaraderie, where small teams engage in spirited competition, probing their understanding of a broad spectrum of classic trivia topics spanning science, history, current events, pop culture, and more. By utilizing diverse apps and interactive tools, this event transforms into a riveting spectacle that unites the campus in a quest for wisdom and fun.

Community Engagement: Trivia Night opens its doors to individuals beyond Phi Sigma Pi, welcoming non-members to form teams for a small entry fee. The proceeds garnered from these teams are channeled toward supporting HOBY and rewarding triumphant teams with well-deserved prizes. This initiative is a testament to the Alpha Eta Chapter's dedication to philanthropic endeavors and creating leadership and community involvement opportunities.

Tripod 21

Tripod 21 was an annual regional leadership conference organized by the Alpha Eta Chapter, started before Regional Conferences were standard events across Phi Sigma Pi. The event was designed for other Phi Sigma Pi Chapters in the area to converge and discuss common problems and issues and arrive at solutions. The first Tripod 21 event was held in March 1998 and continued nearly every year through 2004 before being discontinued.
