===Recruitment===

We plan on having an event the first weekend in April.

===Rush===

* We had two interest meetings this semester. We had a great turn out with 100 students showing up to learn more about the Alpha Xi chapter.

*Open Rush

** The first night of open rush was held in the Bonnie Game room. Brothers and prospective initiates played bowling and billiards together while getting to know one another.

** The second night of open rush was a pizza night in Heth Hall. Brothers and prospective initiates talked over pizza and ice breakers.

** The third and final night of open rush was a casual dinner at the T-shops. Brothers and prospective initiates got dinner together and talked.

*Closed Rush

** We had 33 prospective Initiates move from open rush to closed rush this spring.

** The first closed rush event was speed dating. Brothers and prospective initiates rotated and talked one on one.

** The second closed rush event was held to show us how the prospective initiates uphold the tripod by grouping brothers and proscriptive initiates to work together. This way brothers could better understand the prospective initiates reflections of scholarship, leadership, and fellowship.

** The last closed rush event was round robin interviews where brothers asked questions about the tripod to better understand how each prospective up holds it. Prospective initiates also asked us questions about the fraternity and the initiate process.

* Newlywed Game: The A&S Committee put on a friendly game of Newlywed trivia, but was with Bigs and Littles instead of newlyweds.  The game asked questions like "What is your Big's favorite movie" and "How many siblings does your little have and what are their names?"  The game declared a winner, but many groups were surprised about how much they knew about each other.

* Hula Hooping: A Brother of our Chapter taught our Brotherhood how to hula hoop.  [[Taylor Starr]], an avid hula hooper, spread her knowledge of techniques and tricks.

* Easter Egg Hunt: This event, held by the A&S Committee and Social Committee, was focused on the reason behind hiding Easter eggs and the history behind non-religious Easter traditions.

* Resume & Cover Letter Building: As the semester drew to an end, the A&S committee planned an event to better prepare our seniors for graduation.  They did this by bringing in a professor to advise our Brothers on revising their resumes and giving advice on writing cover letters.

* Letter-Making: The most popular event by far was a letter-making workshop.  Brother [[Elizabeth Dreher]] taught the Brotherhood how to use Heat N Bond adhesive to apply letters to a shirt of their choice.  All Brothers had to provide was their shirt and any fabric of their choice.

Chapter History

Founding

The Alpha Xi chapter was founded on Sunday evening, March 3, 1991 in Heth Lounge B.

Early Years

Members of the Alpha Xi chapter helped induct the founding members of the Alpha Rho Chapter chapter at Virginia Tech on November 3, 1991.

Mat Panyik of the Gamma Class served our first National position as what was known then as a Chapter Consultant and now as a Regional Consultant. The Chapter Service Key has been awarded to two of our members, Jennifer Cook in the spring of 1994 and Jane Allison Ludwing in the spring of 1996. Receiving the Chapter Service Key is a great honor it recognizes an individual Brother for providing outstanding service to the Fraternity.

In recent years Mr. Gregory Humble, President of Alpha Xi during the Fall of 2000 and the Spring of 2001 started a Radford University Foundation Scholarship. We are working hard to put the scholarship into use. With much assistance from Mr. Humble himself, and recent initiate classes, the Chi's, Omega's, and Alpha Gamma's, we are looking forward to seeing a dream become reality.
